KAWASAKI NINJA 1100SX FOR NZ & AUSTRALIA

Kawasaki ’ s 5th generation Ninja Sports

Touring platform sees some useful boosts to performance and features . Kawasaki says
the Ninja 1100SX takes sport riding enjoyment to the next level , with a larger displacement engine , improved KQS ( quick-shifter ) and a new SE model offers Brembo brakes and Öhlins rear suspension , to offer high levels of street-riding excitement in a wide range of situations . Based on the Ninja 1000SX ’ s proven and wellliked lump , the Ninja 1100SX gets a boost in bottom end and midrange thanks to a bump in capacity , up to 1099cc . Delivering 116.7Nm of torque from the liquid-cooled , in-line four , and along with new gear ratios , the motor should feel
significantly peppier especially with luggage and a pillion . Peak power remains unchanged . Kawasaki ’ s dual-direction Kawasaki Quick Shifter ( KQS ) is now easier and more fun to use , offering smoother shifting when accelerating and decelerating . Now functioning from a lower minimum rpm , it should facilitate slower-speed gear shifts , improving ride feel when riding at a more relaxed pace . The new 1100SX gets that increase in engine torque along with improved fuel economy thanks to revised engine components and longer 5th and 6th gears to aid touring comfort . Cruise control and heavier bar end weights ( including weights in the bars themselves - for
less engine vibration getting through to the rider ) should make it a very comfortable place to be for distances . On the electronic side of things , there ’ s a USB-C power outlet and new smartphone Connectivity with Voice Commands . The snappily named ‘ Rideology The App Motorcycle ’ lets riders control the app by voice commands , which in turn allows them to adjust some motorcycle settings , and set GPS routes . The up-spec ’ d SE model comes with some worthwhile upgrades . The SE gets dual Brembo front brake discs stopped by Brembo M4.32 calipers and a Brembo master cylinder and steelbraided brake lines to deliver excellent stopping power and precise braking performance . The SE also gets an Öhlins S46 shock absorber at the rear for a plush action along with plenty of adjustability to tailor the setup to the rider ’ s preferences . The new updates will be welcomed and , as before , the Ninja 1100SX gives an upright riding position , manageable power delivery , and surefooted handling to offer the versatility for daily riding , with top-notch wind protection , electronic cruise control and a seamlessly integrated accessory pannier system ready to whisk you away for weekend escapes ( or longer . We ’ d always suggest longer ). Pricing and availability to be confirmed .
