and potholes give a little unwanted feedback which is common place with most brands. And remember, the suspension is fully adjustable, so no doubt some tinkering will improve the out of the box action for your weight and preferences. Stopping performance from the brakes is well matched to the Alltrhike’ s performance. A large 320mm single front disc with a fourpiston caliper offers great feel and power on all surfaces while never feeling too strong on slippery terrain given the limited offroad traction the standard 80 / 20 road / dirt tyres offer. The rear brake works well, but does have quite intrusive ABS when off road, the answer is to switch the ABS off when riding on dirt. Riding hard, dry clay tracks with the TC and ABS off the Morini proved surprisingly capable blasting up steep climbs. Sure, it will never perform like a 450 dirt-bike on this terrain( it’ s a small capacity road bike, after all), but there is no way I’ d choose a dirt-bike for an adventuring lap of the South Island – the Morini would be a substantially better mount for most riding that doesn’ t encroach on enduro territory.
VALUE PROPOSITION For the price the Moto Morini is outstanding. Bang for buck, it’ s amazing. In a world where the media-coined cost of living crisis phrase is ringing in most people’ s ears … it’ s a joy to have bikes of this caliber at under the $ 10k mark. Some may argue that it’ s only a LAMS bike. However, that is missing the point, because the Alltrhike can do the adventure business if the rider has the skills … right up to about 90 percent of what much more expensive machines are capable of. Not a bad deal is it, 90 percent of the performance for a third or even less than a quarter of the price of some brands’ machines?
