CAPABLE; ATTRACTIVE; BELOW THE MAGIC SUB- $ 10-K POINT.
FEELS A LITTLE HEAVY / OVERBUILT
The only hiccup is a wee flat spot just above idle that I mainly only noticed in on / off throttle situations, like following slow traffic in town. When the revs are higher, it’ s not noticeable as the bike is in its happy spot ridden in the mid-range and up. Personally, I wouldn’ t worry about it too much, but I’ m sure a quick re-map could eliminate it. One thing I noticed riding offroad was the weight of the package. At 204kg wet, the fuel tank full( 190 kg dry) the Alltrhike is no light weight( although a handful of kilos lighter than the Tuareg and Tenere competition at the expense of some capacity and power) and combined with the modest total power output compared to larger, but similar weight Adventure machines, going up a couple of gears and blasting your way out of some situations like deep sand is not always an option. Knobby tyres will be your friend in these conditions. Having said all that, this is a LAMS machine and extremely well-suited to novice adventure riders and in the right hands will embarrass many riders on much larger and more expensive bikes. All the power is accessible and useable without the intimidating downside of too much power.
CHASSIS The suspension offers a decent 210mm of travel up front and 190mm at the rear. Ground clearance is 215mm. It’ s fair to say the suspension does a good job of controlling the Moto Morini both on and off road. The spring rates feel well up to the job and the damping is firm under compression and rebound. This set up keeps the Alltrhike controlled and in its lane while forgoing some plushness. Gravel road corrugation performance lacks a little sophistication, but then, they are the Achilles Heel of many an adventure bike. However, I’ d much prefer this to an overly soft slush bucket like the early Honda Rally 300 for example( Jock owned one, so talks from experience here- Ed). On road at speed, it feels solid and planted with a nimble confidence. Only decent bumps
