ADELAIDE MOTOGP?

Yes, largely associated with the last bit but for some reason, we couldn’ t quite run it in the same news item, for old time’ s sake( did we say ' too soon '…?). If it weren’ t for the demise of the Phillip Island round, this would be even more tantalising. What is being planned is a round based on the same basic course as the F1 cars used from 1985 to 1995 but it will involve a bunch of trees being removed from park land and a bunch of added safety features before MotoGP bikes at full steam will be able to tackle the proposed track. There is also still some speculation that the city venue may prove harder than first thought and a Plan B may be in the wings. Whatever the result, an exciting new event is on its way and, let’ s be honest, Phillip Island has the most amazing circuit but has been lacking in infrastructure for really quite some time and the stoush between the owner and the government of the state and city has been at a stalemate for years. The new venue for November 2027 looks pretty good, with 18 corners and a 4.195km length per lap. Top speeds on the circuit of likely around 340km / h will be feasible. The interstate rivalry has reached new heights, along with political animosity so in the time it takes to set the new venue up, it looks like a proverbial bun fight amongst the politicians and sporting bodies but as long as it gets done, it will be simply a new chapter in MotoGP Downunder.
