VALE THE PHILLIP ISLAND MOTOGP
Not quite yet, so if you can make it to the
Australian Round this year, it will be the last, possibly biggest, hurrah. One of, if not the most revered circuit in the MotoGP calendar which has dished up sizzling racing over its 38 year history, will be no more after this season. While we at KR are still a little cut up by the news and may need counselling, there is a part of us that is more than a little bit excited about what could loosely be described as a street race on MotoGP bikes in Adelaide instead. We cannot divulge which part that is but, as Kiwis, street racing does have a certain allure, no?
What is certain is there will be a party of national significance as the Australians lament the passing of a stunning era, commiserate the massive loss that the Phillip Island MotoGP will be and maybe, just maybe, there will be a movement towards embracing the new venue – but that may well be ' too soon '… However it pans out, this will be the race of the decade to not miss. Don’ t wait until you are sitting back on the rocking chair, wondering why you never actually made it to a round of MotoGP at Phillip Island, it ' s going to go off!
