30 to 40 minutes to ride at a solid pace , an hour or so if you ’ re stopping to take pics and enjoy the views . The track conditions and river levels can vary your time , especially if you are the first one through after a recent storm , and there is track damage .
ACCESS This is a public access track under Department of Conservation management . In previous times you needed to get access permission from DOC to ride this track , however this is no longer required . The track is open to vehicles between Labour Weekend and 30 April , but do note that it may be closed at any time , at DOC ’ s discretion , if the track becomes damaged or unsafe .
HIGHLIGHTS There are three main highlights of this track . Firstly , the twisty , flowing , twin-track terrain is an absolute blast to ride . Secondly , winding through the vast open scenery of the Oteake Conservation Park serves up a smorgasbord of epic vistas . Thirdly , the 360 degree views from the top of Mount Kyeburn will make an impression on even the most seasoned adventurer .
WHO THE ROUTE IS FOR Because the track is reasonably remote and covers some fairly demanding terrain , it is best suited to well-prepared riders with good riding skills .
ACCOMMODATION At the Danseys Pass end of the track you have two options : Danseys Pass Hotel , or the Danseys Pass Campsite . At the Naseby end of the track , there are a multitude of accommodation options at the small town of Naseby .
