BUCHANAN TAKES MOTO3 POINTS

Balaton Circuit in Hungary was looking good for the fast Kiwi in Moto3. His last minute tyre choice saw him hanging in the front group but not able to make progress against those on the soft rear tyre – until … Just when his tyre gamble started paying dividends, with only a couple of laps to go and the front bunching up, it was looking great but a crash saw the red flag come out, dashing the hard work he had put in over the last couple of laps. Another lap and his top ten position would have given the plucky Southlander a handsome haul of points. Sadly, the results go back to the previous lap, so he was awarded fourteenth, not the top ten he was

Happy enough with the result, all things considered, you can’ t help but wonder how it might have panned out … He went from fourteenth to tenth in lap 18, he was catching the front riders as their tyres started to struggle. Buchanan’ s fastest lap of the race was the last one … Just watching it was hard enough. Yelling from the sofa as his tyre choice was looking like a flash of brilliance in the strategy, it was a tough watch as the race was prematurely halted. But he sure did get any Kiwis watching a tad fizzing. Keep it up, Cormac, we didn’ t quite fall off the couch. Brilliant.
