BMW MOTORRAD DEBUTS M1000XR PROTOTYPE
BMW Motorrad has revealed its third M branded model , the M1000XR Prototype which looks set to go head-to-head with the growing super touring crossover segment . While still strictly in the prototype phase , BMW Motorrad has given us our first look at the upcoming M1000XR in a new video in conjunction with Isle of Man TT racer Peter Hickman . Like BMW ’ s other M-badged bikes , the M1000XR prototype sees the familiar silhouette of the S1000XR given a motorsport-inspired treatment with swathes of carbon fibre , beefy
BMW M brakes and special M aerodynamic winglets . At its heart is the four-cylinder engine from the BMW S1000RR featuring BMW ’ s ShiftCam technology for varying the engine timing and valve lift . With an engine output of more than 147kW ( 200hp ), a weight of 223kg fully fuelled , and chassis technology , aerodynamics and control electronics designed equally for highperformance road use , long-distance riding and fast laps on the racetrack , the new M XR looks ready to take on the likes of Ducati ’ s Multistrada V4 Pike ’ s Peak for crossover dominance .
