MotoGP has been brilliant so far this season and part of that magic is the unpredictable nature of the racing. Sure, it has been dominated by Marquez, but which one? And then there was Zarco, the oldest rider on the grid, on the bike nobody seems to able to tame, the Honda, taking a win. Then, at Silverstone, it looked like Fabio Quartararo and Yamaha had risen from the ashes of last season, only for his ride height system to let him down, pardon the pun. Then comes Bez. Marco Bezzecchi turned Aprilia’ s season around in what was a stunning win at Silverstone, demonstrating his ability and that of the Aprilia RS-GP25 that has been struggling until the team found that magical balance between speed and rideability that is the knife-edge world of MotoGP. Storming from tenth on the grid to the win, it was also pretty special to see him acknowledge the crestfallen Quartararo’ s fabulous ride until the Frenchman’ s agonising withdrawal while leading the race by over four seconds. The fact that ride height devices are to be banned in 2027 will be scant consolation to a rider who has been outspoken on the controversial devices. Ironic at best.
