WORKSHOP

Be sure the tyre is facing in the correct direction if directional , put the disc side of the wheel through the tyre then slot the valve stem through the rim and tuck the rim-lock down inside between the tube and tyre . Lever that side of the tyre on using reasonably sized lever ‘ bites ’. Be careful not to catch the tube with the tyre levers or you ’ ll have to do it all again when you pump it up and realise you have a puncture ...
Check the valve and rim-lock stems are still straight . I start opposite the rimlock / valve ( some don ’ t ) on the last side and lever it on using my knees to keep it in place . As long as the opposite side bead to where you are working is deep in the rim well ( where the spokes are on the inside of the rim ) the tyre should lever on reasonably easily , but some brands of tyre are certainly easier to work with than others .

Inflate the tyre , check the valve is straight and the tyre is seated evenly .

Tighten the rimlock and install the wheel . Check everything is tight , pump the brake pedal to relocate the pads , check tyre pressure and you ’ re in business . With a bit of practice it ’ s only a fifteen minute job – when you get really slick you should be able to do each in under ten minutes ... Remember , practice makes perfect .
