Keen to explore tougher country , editor Ben fitted a tyre more in keeping with the ES700 ’ s abilities ; Pirelli ’ s MT21
centre of the tread . And , as I ’ d expected , on the dirt it works very well letting the bike climb out of ruts easily . I swapped the MT21 out after 3500km for an even more aggressive tyre for enduro-style trail riding , but I reckon total tyre life would be around the 6000km mark before getting too low to grip in the dirt . There ’ s still plenty of life in it , so I ’ ve kept it to go back on for my next adventure ride . Definitely recommended for the 700 / 690 / 701
stable of bikes as well as more adventurous riders on lighter ADVs like the Tuareg , Tenere and F900GS models .
