On the face of it , Cardo ’ s brand new offering is ... well ... pretty much the same as the last one .
The new Packtalk Pro shares the same magnetic Airmount as the Packtalk Edge . It has the same 13-hour talk time , the same claimed 1600m range in DMC mode , the same Bluetooth intercom modes , IP67 rating , 45mm JBL speakers , and sound profiles . It also has the same bluetooth 5.2 chipset , USB-C fast charging , buttons and form factor . But looks can be deceiving ... Cardo has been innovating . Cardo ’ s brand new Packtalk Pro is a bit of a mid-life refresh on its existing Packtalk Edge flagship offering . If it was a car or bike , it would be a facelift model . The colour has changed ( now all black ), and there are some seemingly small tweaks ... but these tweaks could save your life .
NEW FEATURES The Packtalk Pro now comes with crash detection capability as well as automatic on / off . The unit now has accelerometers that can tell when you pick up your helmet and put it on , automatically turning your Cardo on , and when you take it off and put it down ; the system starts a timer and after two minutes of no motion , the Cardo goes into standby mode . The really smart bit is that the algorithm knows the difference between the unit being picked up and the g-forces involved in a crash , and if it senses you might have come off your bike , it ’ ll
