come to realise , as I did , that there ’ s still over half of the rev range left to use . So , I imagine 50 to 250km / h is easily possible in top gear – impressive . But the GSX-S1000 is not about top speed , the lack of a fairing tells us that . It ’ s about effortless , turbine-like power on the way out of turns and carving through flowing back roads , all delivered in a usable way that ’ s excellent when just tootling around town or gliding through gridlocked traffic .
Now , forgive me for this personal dream ... but , because it is such an awesome engine , I really do think it needs to be dropped in to a pukka adventure bike . To my mind Suzuki is somewhat remiss having not already done so ! It would be a dream machine - that high rpm , in-line four engine howl and thrust while pinned and drifting up a gravel road would quick-shift most adventure riders straight to nirvana ! Happy days .
