Billy Macrae( YZF-R15) joined the SuperSport 150 field, and had an immediate effect, taking the points win for the Round. But Troy Stephens( YZF-R15) and Samuel Chave( YZF-R15) will take a 15-point differential into the final. Isabelle Smith( YZF-R15) is improving all the time, the 150cc combatants providing great entertainment. Likewise in SuperSport 300. Alvin Wu( YZF-R3) and Lucas Hyslop( Ninja 400) have just a single point between them after eight races, so there was still everything to play for. The Carl Cox Motorsport Cup rounded out the day’ s programme with four lively races, including the traditional Le-Mans start for Race Two. At the end of the day, Justin Reid took home a handy 104 point lead in the Ninja Cup, having taken three wins and a second. Scott Findlay has been giving the Hyosung Cup field a riding lesson this season, he was unbeaten over eight races, carrying a 138 point lead into Round Three. Troy Fowles and Alyssa Boyd are engaged in an arm-wrestle over second – and like the Ninja’ s – there would be a lot more to come in the Cup.
ROUND THREE It was a perfect Waikato spring day at Hampton Downs on November 16 for the final Round of
the Suzuki – Auckland Motorcycle Club Series. The only interruption to the day coming in the form of an oil-down in the third Junior category race of the day, triggering an immediate red flag and clean-up – but not before several riders were caught out. The meeting also saw the annual Carl Cox Motorsport Cup 1-Hour race, which sparked to life via the usual Le-Mans start. This was the 7th time this event has been held in the 15 year history of Cup competition. Twenty three bikes took the 1-Hour start, with 14 Ninjas and nine Hyosungs, a mix of three solo entries and twenty dual-combo’ s – with some powerhouse combinations teaming up. In the Ninja class, Joe Stroud teamed with brother Jesse to take the win by nine seconds over Lucas Hyslop, who had teamed with Tyler King. In the Hyosung class, points leader Scott Findlay rode solo, only to be pipped at the line by Alyssa Boyd and Cameron Leslie – with the margin just 0.005 of a second. The lead Ninjas covered 45 laps, with the lead Hyosungs four laps back, after one hour of hard racing.
