delivery setting with the green oil I find the chain is too oily and makes too much mess - wasting oil . Turning it down to setting six bars seems to give about the same amount of chain lubing as the blue on nine , which , by my mental maths , makes it 30 % more efficient at lubricating . The green oil seems to lubricate the chain better and distributes around the chain better ( giving better coverage ), yet doesn ’ t flick around as much as the blue , which gets quite messy . There ’ s now more on the chain and less on the bike , which is a bonus . I reckon the green just works better . I had a gift voucher for my local Honda dealership and was intending to get some more of the green oil , but they only had blue in stock . The performance difference between them is enough that I didn ’ t buy the blue , opting to wait for some green to arrive in the post . I ’ m now looking at putting a Scottoiler on my KTM 690 because I hate having to oil the chain - the bike doesn ’ t have a centrestand . After living with the Scottoiler on my Africa Twin I ’ m now out of the habit of oiling chains and it seems like such a faff on the 690 . I like the biodegradable aspect too as I often ride off-road and regularly end up crossing streams and fords . Scottoiler says this new oil is ‘ readily biodegradable ’, which means it has to degrade quickly and completely within 28 days . Helping keep non-degrading oil out of our streams has to be a good thing . The All-Climate Biodegradable oil lasts longer , costs the same and is better for the environment , can ’ t say fairer than that .
