I
’ ve been rocking the LS2 Pioneer for around five years now , and it ’ s done me well . Thankfully , I ’ ve not had the displeasure of coming off a bike , so I can ’ t report back on how well it protected my melon , but it ’ s always been a breathable , well ventilated , reasonably stylish skid lid for adventure and trail riding . Recently , I had the opportunity to test out the Sena 50R bluetooth / mesh communications kit and , to my disappointment , there was no room in my trusty LS2 Pioneer for the speakers . Meaning it essentially wasn ’ t compatible . It seems many other users of the Pioneer had the same feedback for LS2 because in mid-2020 the company released a revised version of the
Pioneer , Called the Pioneer EVO . This new LS2 Pioneer EVO is a step up in many areas , firstly there is room in the EPS protection layer by your ears for the Sena ’ s 45mm speakers . In fact , there ’ s enough room to install the speakers and still have a couple of millimetres of gap between your ears and the helmet liner , so there should be no pressure points . Of course , that depends on the size of your ears .
SIZING AND COMFORT The LS2 Pioneer Evo comes in sizes from small through to 3XL with three shell sizes covering the size range . My melon fits nicely into a 2XL helmet and I can confirm the new Pioneer
