Kiwi Rider August Vol.2 2026 | Page 52

The 3-hour timer starts when your grid line starts. If you are a two-man team you do your lap and come back to the pits and tag your teammate who then goes off and does their lap. If you are a solo rider, the track comes back to the pits every lap, giving you the opportunity to get some fuel, food, drink, rest, goggles etc. if needed. You do as many laps as you can within the 3-hour window. In the teams’ classes laps are done one for one. It gives a good opportunity to do a lap, have a rest and then do another lap. Riders generally do around three laps each. You can ride your own bike or share a bike. At the end of the three hours, the checkered flag waves and the race is over.
This is one of the most low-pressure forms of racing and a great introduction to racing in the forest for riders of all abilities. A few top pro riders also use this series as a tune up for more hardcore races later in the year. For many riders, this is the first race they’ ve ever done and it’ s even more fun sharing the experience with a friend. If this sounds like something you’ d like to try but you have missed the first round, no worries. You can just do one or two individual rounds.
