KRIEGA US-10 & US-20 Drypack System Hard luggage on a touring bike is a handy solution, but hard luggage doesn’t fit all bikes and even our own Vege wouldn’t put hard luggage on a dirt bike (oh... wait... he has a GS with original BMW hard luggage). Another great option is the Kiwi tried and trusted Ventura system, which I’ve used for many years. This also works well and is universal in that it can be swapped between bikes if you fit the mounting brackets on each bike you want to use it on. However, the nature of the job here at KR means I tend to ride a variety of bikes, so appreciate ultimate flexibility in my storage solution. It could be adventure bikes one week, sports bikes the next, and cruisers yet another. My go-to luggage, which can strap to pretty much any bike – from enduro whippets through litre-class sports bikes to adventure bikes and cruisers – is Kreiga’s dry-bag US luggage system. Constructed from tough Cordura, the dry- bags come in a variety of sizes from five litres up to 30 litres and the great thing is they’re modular and can be strapped to each other. I have two US-10s and a US- 20, which can strap together for a 40 litre capacity or they can be strapped to different places on the bike. The typical mounting method is to remove the passenger seat (or rider/passenger seat if all one unit) and place the bag’s straps underneath crossways on the bike, so they protrude from either side of the seat. The seat is replaced and then the bag is clipped to the straps and the straps pulled tight to secure the bag. Easy. Need more capacity? Strap more to the main bag, or strap one to the tank with the tank adaptor. I’ve had these particular bags for about 10 years and they’ve proven to be completely waterproof and aren’t showing their age at all. They utilise a roll-top closure to keep water out, and a separate waterproof inner 66 KIWI RIDER bag which Velcro’s to the outer bag. There’s also an external pocket for small items such as keys, which has a water-resistant zipper. I’m a big fan of Kriega gear, it keeps my gear dry and secure, is almost bombproof and I’ve managed to make it fit any bike I’ve ever ridden. Kriega gear comes with a 10 year warranty too, so if it leaks or falls apart they’ll sort it out. Model/Price: US-5 $99, US-10 $149, US-20 $189 Info: www.motogear.co.nz/krie- ga-bike-packs-3
