COSTS , PERMISSION , AND DATES There is no cost to ride this track as it ’ s part of the DOC track network . However , do keep in mind that the track crosses private farmland . The landowners are happy and willing to
work with DOC to grant access to the public throughout the open period each year , so be sure to keep them happy by leaving gates as you find them , and riding with caution and consideration around any livestock , or farm workers . The open period typically starts on the first weekend in January , and finishes towards the end of February – this can change each year but it ’ s typically around seven weeks . The 2025 dates have not yet been announced , however this is normally done in November or
