How was it different getting your own licence ? “ There ’ s so much . The freedom , the skill . I love the technicality , it ’ s a hard thing to master and you ’ re always learning and improving . I just love it . It ’ s a very healthy addiction , and I ’ m not bad at it . My biggest regret is not starting it 10 to 15 years ago . Especially the racing , because I ’ ve got a bit of a knack for it .”
How did you get into racing ? “ I enrolled for a track day at Ruapuna with my Ducati 937 road bike . I ’ ve done 17 of them now and someone suggested I get on the track on a race bike . A cheap way to enter racing is the 250 production class so I ’ ve got a Kawasaki Ninja 250 race bike called ‘ Tiny ’ that I race through Motorcycling Canterbury Inc and CAMS ( Classic Action Motorcycle Sport ). Recently , I entered the British European American Motorcycle Racing Sound of Thunder race , but my bike doesn ’ t fit the criteria for that club so I hired a KTM 390 . I only managed
