KTM ADV R GLOVES

T he saying goes that if something fits well , it ‘ fits like a glove ’, but most of things don ’ t . And that applies , ironically , to gloves too . Trying to get the perfect glove for all riding types and weather conditions is impossible . On an adventure or gravel ride , I ’ ll typically take a pair of road gloves for the long road stretches and some MX gloves to swap into if it ’ s real hot . If it ’ s cold and wet , then I normally have to wear bulky gloves to keep warm and lose a bit of lever control , or have wet / numb hands in the MX gloves along with the corresponding lack of protection . Nothing fitted the bill . I spotted this pair of gloves from KTM and thought they looked quite interesting . It ’ s a specific Adventure and Enduro glove , featuring an MX style short fit , but with an Outdry waterproof membrane . According to the blurb on the packaging , ‘ the short design of this glove is for summer conditions and for Enduro rides to get a better feeling ’. Kinda sounded like what I was after , but it was the Outdry waterproof layer that sealed it . The Outdry membrane is bonded to the inside of the outer fabric , so water and wind is blocked on the gloves ’ surface - I can ’ t stand the feeling of gloves with a waterproof liner inside , they get bulky and have little lever feel when wet . There ’ s a silicone coating on the fingers for grip on the levers in the wet , comfortable Lycra cuffs and finger sidewalls , pre-bent fingers and a double ‘ synthetic leather ’ palm with wear reinforcement on the inside of the thumb . There ’ s a knuckle protector on each glove too . When I first tried them on in the house to bed them in ( is it just me that wears gear in the
