so it lined up nicely with the muffler , then do up the two bolts , pull the retaining spring into place and job done .
A NOISE ANNOYS ? Plastics back on , a quick stab of the starter and it fired up ... to a louder but not ‘ loud ’ sound . It was gone 9pm by this point , so rather than sit in the garage blipping the throttle , I took it out for a quick spin around the block . Things sound louder in the still of the night and compared to the standard bike it ’ s certainly noisier . I felt a little conspicuous blatting around the quiet streets , and not wanting to annoy the neighbours I put it back in the garage for the night . I ’ ve not had it on the dyno , but after a couple of rides I reckon there ’ s a bit more bottomend torque , and it certainly sounds more like a 700 dirtbike . I wanted to take out the baffle to see what it sounded like , but it ’ s been spot-welded in a couple of places – I guess so that it passes the EU standard and can ’ t be easily modified . I ’ ll grind those off before the next issue and see what it ’ s like without the baffle in .
