It ’ s been many a year since KTM discontinued the RC8 Superbike , but now the Austrian firm , which in more recent times has been seeing more and more success on the MotoGP circuit , is back with a track focused bike based around its 890 Duke R . The KTM RC8C is a limited production track-only motorcycle that KTM says is being built to satisfy the apex-slaying needs of orange-bleeding track warriors . Dedicated to putting in fast lap times with unmatched hyper-focused precision , the KTM RC8C is the embodiment of KTM ’ s Ready to Race Ethos . The RC8C has been co-engineered in close partnership with Krämer Motorcycles and is built using high end , high performance racing componentry . As the name implies , the RC8C makes use of a LC8c production engine - as used in the 890 DUKE R - which should ensure easy maintenance and parts availability for owners for years to come . KTM says the idea for the RC8C was to create a track-based motorcycle capable of churning out the highest levels of performance and handling , without needing overly sophisticated ( and expensive ) electronics or unobtainable tools in the pits . Key performance figures include a 128hp peak power figure , 140kg dry weight , and plenty of bespoke features unique to the RC8C . The LC8c parallel-twin engine in the RC8C pumps out 128hp and breathes through a dedicated racing exhaust with an Akrapovič titanium muffler . This in turn is bolted to a bespoke 25CrMo4 steel tubular frame , augmented by a selection of WP Pro suspension components at either end and wrapped in a Grand Prix-inspired aerodynamics package . The fork is a hand-built 43mm WP APEX PRO 7543 closed cartridge unit . KTM says the fork
