This bike is an example of Kiwi ingenuity. A
story of making something... because. The
initial spark was to make a bike for the Juggy
Hundy. I’ll let you work that one out. The bike
is a mix of a 2014 KTM 85SX motocross chassis
but with the potent 85cc two-stroke lump
removed, and replaced with a Honda CRF100F
four-stroke donk. Builder Matt Vining tells us
the story of how this strange creation came to
be...
“I basically started out with a 2014 KTM 85SX
in running order which I bought off Trade Me.
To recover some costs from the purchase I
sold the engine and wheels, giving me some
cash to put back into building the bike. I
already had a CRF100F with a Takegawa 146cc
big bore kit and Super Head fitted, and it was
running an oversized oil pump too. We had to
mount an oil cooler on the bike to help stop
the problem of the engine oil boiling when it
got hot. Thankfully, this did the trick and the
engine runs a lot cooler now.
