THE SKINNY Who is a 350 two-stroke for? Well, it’ s versatile. With a little tweaking, it’ ll tackle motocross, cross-country, enduro, hard enduro and trail riding. This engine could quite easily do it all with some fine tuning to suit. You could be a vet wanting the thrill of a big-bore stroker or an enduro guy wanting broad usable power, and with a small adjustment to the power valve and jetting, you can have either. And to be honest, it would make an outstanding trail bike too. It will provide hours and hours of smiles and considerable bragging rights among your mates. It seems that big-bore two-strokes are the flavour of the month once again, funny how things go full circle. The Beta RX350 is fun, really fun and, to be brutally honest, looks absolutely unreal. All of this is my opinion, you may or may not agree, and the best way to find out is to give one a go, I think you’ ll like it.
TWO-STROKE PERFORMANCE Now for something very, very cool … Two Stroke Performance in Aussie has made a head kit for the 350RX, with claims a 16 % increase in power, giving an extra 8hp. That would make the Beta 350RX an absolute weapon, up there power wise with a modern 450 but all delivered in the style of a two-stroke. The bike absolutely doesn’ t need it, but it looks like a very compelling upgrade path for when your late-night TradeMe fingers get all twitchy.
