Fitting in between any and all boxes is the latest EV for urbanites from the slightly leftfield side of Motorrad, the Vision CE. Ok, they have been into this part of the motoring realm a few times now but this time, they have taken the gloves off. And the helmet. And, basically, all of the protection normally worn by motorcyclists. Roll the calendar back quarter of a century and we saw the C1. It may not have become a global success but its innovative design protected the rider from the elements, even when things went wrong. You were belted in and had a‘ cage’ much like a sportscar but only two wheels. Then along came the CE 02 and the CE 04 for urban environs. This new model, while not having a roof as such, does have a protective cage, seat belts and, now here is the kicker … it balances itself when it comes to a stop. The Vision CE has safety as its main focus and adds the helmet-free vibe should you choose or your hairstyle is vital at the end of your trip. Naturally, TC and lean-sensitive ABS are there and are part and parcel of the machine’ s ability to balance when stopped. Relaxed ergos, long wheelbase and sure to turn heads as you‘ balance’ with both feet up at the lights, urban transport is a rapidly changing beast.
NORTON RESETS LINEUP
It is the end of the line, as in the production line, for Norton’ s current models. The V4SV, the V4CR and the iconic Commando 961 are no more. Final production is all sold to dealers and there is a waiting list of people wanting one. If you were thinking about getting one but didn’ t get on the list, your F. O. M. O has been realised. On the other side of that news is the good bit. In Solihull, UK, an all-new model line-up is emerging in November. TVS Motor Company acquired the legendary brand in 2020 and with its new and powerful backing, a new design philosophy and language as the name carries on. The new models are actively in production already, so November will be a live launch, not just a teaser of what is expected to come. More news on the emerging lineup will be in upcoming issues as the info comes out of the newly refreshed facility.
