again after just over an hour, taking a short cut for Oakura. Ten of us got the bike-train flowing through the jigsaw of Taranaki’ s back roads( it’ s cool to watch the lights in your mirror when you’ re moving at pace) and after another hour and a half we rolled into Oakura. We were fortunate enough to park the bikes at the camp ground and walk straight into the warm surroundings of the Oakura Bay Surf Club, where a separate space had been set aside for us.
