HERLINGS, LAENGENFELDER WIN IN TURKEY

Red Bull KTM Racing had the dream weekend at Afyon circuit in Turkey, taking home the silverware in MXGP and MX2. The win sees Herlings’ total hit 111 in his career so far and it was the fifth time he had won the Turkish round. It was his fellow KTM rider, Lucas Coenen, who provided the toughest challenge with the youngster claiming second overall. In the second moto, Coenen said he was a little shy to push and lost some opportunities but was philosophical about it.“ Not bad in the first moto. I took a good start but the first lap was a bit hectic. I settled in and focused on my rhythm. The track was slick and it was easy to make a mistake but I felt better and better. The second: not much to say. I had to come from the back and at one point I was sleeping. I was then a bit shy on the last lap. I’ m young. It’ s racing: I had an opportunity and I didn’ t take it. I’ ll keep learning. I’ m looking forward to the last two races and we’ ll do what we can.” Romain Febvre( Kawasaki) still holds the MXGP title lead on 885 points with three rounds to go but Coenen isn’ t out of reach on 859.

Third is Coldenhoff( Fantic) but with 638 points, only the top two are in with a chance of the red plate. In MX2, it is way closer. Simon Laengenfelder( KTM) is leading on 833 but Kay de Wolf( Husqvarna) is lurking on 821. Andrea Adamo( KTM) is on 771, so expect the last three rounds to be a total throw-down in the title fight.
