SEAT CONCEPTS diy COMFORT KIT

Seat Concepts is a name many riders will know . Based in the USA , they ’ ve been making comfy seats for years and are a popular purchase among 690 and 701 owners .

When I got the GasGas , they didn ’ t offer a seat for the ES700 , so I bought the GasGas gel Ergo Seat . It popped straight onto the bike and gave a decent increase in comfort for $ 358 in comparison . It ’ s great for the harder local rides over the course of a couple of days , but as some of my bigger trips are a couple of thousand kilometres over the course of 10 days or so , I want more . My mate Doug on his KTM 690 with the Seat Concepts comfort seat always seems so smug , so ...
DIY KIT The American company now offers complete seats , but only for the Euro4 models , which are sold in the USA . The Euro5 ES700 , which we get here and in Aussie , has a different seat base , so they now offer a kit of foam and cover for the Euro5 models . I got a kit from them , which DHL took forever to deliver ( mostly stuck in Auckland for some reason ). There would be two options for fitting it - take it to a seat guy / girl and have them fit it . Or ... DIY . I opted for DIY as there ’ s nobody near me that offers any kind of seat covering service . I figured my staple gun would do the job , but , while it ’ s fine for anything around the house / shed , it can ’ t get into the small space needed for the GasGas seat base . Thankfully a friendly

neighbour has a compressor and air-powered staple gun for upholstery that has a narrow enough nose to get into the little bits , who was happy to let me use it . Without this type of tool I don ’ t think it could be done - bear that in mind if you decide to go DIY .
FITTING Before fitting the kit , I watched all the YouTube videos I could find about fitting a Seat
