“We’re goin’ anyway,” they chorused.
And, hey, good on ‘em, for heading off for
an American biking tradition is fine and dandy...
except the circumstances were far from fine
and dandy.
As I veered towards earlier, I am not hooked
into checking up with every emerging facet of
this Covid Toyota Corolla thing, so whether there
has been an upswing in cases round South
Dakota way, and everywhere the rally attendees
ventured from, is not something I can touch
upon. Although, being practical and realistic (to a
degree), I do suspect there have been “incidents”
in terms of who gave what and who caught what.
But let’s leave it there.
One thing we have to note is the very fact that
we are pretty much doing it right, in terms of
handling this Covid Honda Civic thing (no matter
what the Orange Honcho says about us – Ed).
But I do feel for the Auckland bods.
The riders who wanna get out and wanna catch
up and wanna have a bit of a blast down to
Whitianga for the day or whatever, because as I
write this such rides are unable to occur... which is
made more unfortunate by the fact the weather
is tending toward the spring-like.
Tis riding weather, which is fine and dandy for
we in the more relaxed state of lock down, but
for the lads and ladies in the north it just ain’t fair.
I feel for them but then, hey, they ain’t alone,
as there are a whole lot of people out there
who can’t go and do what they want to do.
I want to go and ride an MV Agusta around
Pukekohe for... a fortnight... but can’t be done...
yet. Folks?
Just hang on in there for the day will come
when this insidious Covid Coronary Thrombosis
bloody thing will be shown the door and all will
be well and we’ll all have the knees-up to end
all knees up. I’ll see you in Sturgis yeah?
