DIRT NEWS

CHUCKY DELIVERS

Daniel Sanders, also known as Chucky, stomped the opposition in the latest round of the FIM World Rally-Raid Championship with an impressive performance. Rather than ride conservatively and simply consolidate his lead, the Australian hard-man rode it like he stole it. The win sees him take the title with one round to spare but don’ t expect him to ease off yet. Taking the Portuguese round by a stunning 14 minutes, Sanders retained his unbeaten prologue win streak as well as topping the time-sheets for three out of five stages. KTM Red Bull Racing weren’ t done yet though, with Luciano Buenavides winning the final day, taking third for the event and finishing second in the series, three points ahead of Honda’ s Tosha Schareina. Chucky has turned his focus to the final round in Morocco and is currently leading. Could he end the perfect season with another win?“ It’ s a dream come true to win the world championship. You think about it when you’ re a kid no matter what sport you do, but I chose motorbikes, and it worked out really well. The race here has gone so well, and the bike has been perfect, so a massive thank you to the team for all the hard work they put in. It’ s very rare to have this sort of consistency in rally as it’ s often so unpredictable. But up to now, we’ ve put in a perfect season, and we’ ll still be aiming to carry that into Morocco. It’ s still all sinking in really. I’ m happy to get the world championship here in Portugal and hopefully, there’ s a lot more to come.”
