A CRASH PLAGUED WEEKEND Cremona’ s WorldSBK race weekend saw more than its fair share of crashes. In qualifying, Honda HRC’ s Jake Dixon and Motoxracing Yamaha’ s Mattia Rato both went down, without injury, very early in the session, the resulting yellow flags causing a lot of riders to abandon their first run at a fast lap. Once normal service was restored, and with four minutes to go, it was Motocorsa Ducati’ s dynamic rookie Alberto Surra that held pole only to have Bulega better it with just two minutes remaining. Lecuona then struck in the final minute of qualifying to put in what would be the fastest lap of the session, just 4 / 100ths of a second faster than Bulega. There were more crashes in the closing moments as Bimota’ s Axel Bassani, MarcVDS Ducati’ s Sam Lowes and Yamaha’ s Andrea Locatelli all crashed out( without hurting themselves). It’ s a sign of Ducati’ s domination of the series that the first two rows of the grid for Race One
