KAWASAKI 1000 VERSYS 900

No, not a typo, Kawasaki has just launched a brand new model in its Versys range. The new kid is based around the Z900 engine( actually 948cc) and is a smaller, leaner option to the well-established 1000cc variant. The mid-sized upright touring segment is going well and Mr K didn’ t want to let the others get too much of the action so Kawasaki have this new model to tantalise with. The new Versys 900 is the sportiest Versys ever, and comes dripping with the latest technology, so included on the bike are such things as ARAS( Advanced Rider Assistance System) that incorporates Adaptive Cruise Control Lite, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Detection and Emergency Stop Signal. The Z900-derived engine gives 122PS at 9500rpm and paired to 97.3Nm of torque to make this a sporty corner carver and the 50:50 weight distribution means it will be sure-footed when urged on. The frame is a ground-up new build, based on the trellis concept and the bike runs long travel suspension for our less than perfect roads here in the land of the bumpy backroad.( not that the main roads are much flasher …). A seven-position adjustable screen, 825- 845mm seat height, as in easily swapped over and new luggage options of 47litre topbox and 32litre panniers make the Versys, well, versatile, to say the least. Smartphone connectivity and a colour 5-inch TFT screen that lets you choose your mode from navigation and touring mode or sporty info as well, so all stops have been removed in the sporty Versys 900. Naturally, it also has lean angle optimised ABS, traction control and power modes for you to tweak to your heart’ s content and as for price? Well, we’ ll have to wait a little bit longer for that. Due here mid 2027, additional features and pricing are still to be confirmed. Something to ponder as you think about that next purchase.
