The French are known for many things; eating snails, stinky cheese, Champagne, fresh baguettes, fancy cakes and a certain incident involving a boat … They also, however, make a motorcycle that has been at the top of the Enduro GP game for quite some time. Drum roll please … Sherco! I was in the north Waikato at the Pines Hard Enduro recently( a great event, check it out next year) when John Holding from Sherco NZ mentioned that he had a Sherco 300SEF for me to have a scoot on. I’ m not going to tell a porky here, that was a really great thing to hear because my thought process has been for a long time that a 300 four-stroke might just be the ideal engine for an enduro machine. Collecting the 300 and having a chat to the guys at Sherco, I was impressed. The build quality looks great and aesthetically it really is a beautiful-looking bike. And, luckily, the ever helpful Nathan Refoy provided his personal insight, which involved“ take the baffle out, it sounds sick”. I left it in.
