DIRT NEWS

MX2 MONSOON

When the rain came, it was brutal. Every whoop and dip filled in the time it took to get back around the track. Grip where you could see the track was virtually zero and had the riders looking more like learners on a trail ride as they slipped and slid around until the race was declared. At least MX2 had done enough laps for points to be awarded for both races, just. There was no fast line. There was no way of getting enough drive to jump anything and the riders couldn’ t see anyway, so it was game over and add up the points time. Simon Langenfelder came out with the title, scrapping with Kay de Wolf for the points right down to the wire. It is no secret that there is tension between the two who were both in contention and de Wolf tried everything to drag back the small deficit but to no avail. He did win Race 1 but with Langenfelder in second, it was a minor gain in the hunt for the overall. With the race declared, de Wolf won the round but finishing fifth in the second moto and that man right behind him again, it was a tough day at the office as his challenge was thwarted. It could have been worse though, as his bike had a technical DNF but the race direction went back to the last decent lap. Did the technical gremlins after his crash early in the race slow him down? It doesn’ t really matter now as the season is done but what a battle for the title in MX2. So, Kay de Wolf( Husqvarna) won the battle but Simon Langenfelder( KTM) won the war.
