HONDA’ S TWO-WHEELED EV
Dubbed the WN7, due to some marketing guru thinking that we would automatically assume that it meant Wind Naked and 7 meaning something about power output, the new e-model is due for release sometime next year. Rumoured to compare with 600cc I. C. E bikes in the power stakes, it is supposedly putting out around 100Nm. Range is reportedly around 130km from a fixed battery, sorry, no swapout option yet. If you have a grunty EV power supply it will take around three hours to fully charge, so it is aimed squarely at the urban commuter market that want a bit of bounce in their stride, particularly getting‘ up to speed’ from a standstill. Futuristic styling is a given but nowhere near as radical as some of the star-gazing design concepts of old. In fact, it looks edgy but pretty traditional. There have been lessons learnt in the rarified environs of‘ lectric bike design studios.
