be configured for range of options as well . And the ergo switches light up at night , nice touch .
THE SKINNY As a package the 990 Duke is quite special , but the overall impression is that of superb design and engineering and a brutal adherence to minimalism . There ’ s nothing on this bike that isn ’ t purpose built , stripped back and naked . Just how I like it . The finish and presentation is top quality without being slick or lavish . It is aggressive , attractive , comfortable , fast , light and compact with no frippery .
Is it going to attack the superbikes , no , but that ’ s not its purpose - it ’ s a naked middleweight , that you can really play with , and it will return the favour . It ’ s exactly what it needs to be , an exciting weekend rider with enough manners to commute , but the soul of a fettled race-bike when the grip is twisted hard . In a shoot-out of middleweight hotties , like the Triumph 765 , the Tuono 660 , Suzuki ’ s GSX-8S , and the Ducati V2 , the KTM is ... the Sniper . I may not like the name , but I get what they mean . Top marks .
