COVERS COME OFF APRILIA RS660 FOR EXPECTED MARCH ARRIVAL

A prilia has revealed the final details of the hotly anticipated RS660 , with the local delivery now expected for March 2021 . While we had hoped we would be seeing the Aprilia RS660 in New Zealand in the next couple of months , the bike ’ s NZ distributor has confirmed we should now expect to see the hot new middleweight in March , thanks to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic . Company spokesman , Michael Beckhaus , told Kiwi Rider official production is yet to start on the parallel twin Aprilia , but we can still expect to be amongst the first markets in the world to receive the RS660 . “ Production starts in January 2021 for the RS , meaning we should land them in March ”, he said . “ At this point we don ’ t have any confirmed pricing , but we still expect an RRP of somewhere around $ 20k .” With the indicated Australian price recently announced as $ 18,500- $ 19,000 , that rough estimate for the NZ price seems to put the twin-cylinder Italian up against the Japanese four-cylinders supersports . If so , that is tremendous value for money considering the pedigree and tech behind the RS660 . Based around an all-new chassis with a new parallel-twin engine developed from Aprilia ’ s V4 superbike engine , the RS660 puts down a claimed 100hp and 67Nm of peak power while tipping the scales at just 183kg . An electronic tech-fest , the RS660 features all the trimmings we ’ ve come to expect from Aprilia ’ s flagship models including a quickshifter , APRC , TFT display , multiple rider models and more . Styling of the new RS makes clear the RSV4 DNA used throughout development , with the RS660 set to be offered in three colour schemes ; Apex Black , Lava Red , and the hot new Acid Gold . While delivery is even further off , Beckhaus also mentioned we should also see the Tuono version of the RS660 arrive in 2021 as well , however he could not give us specifics as to time frame or pricing at the time of writing .
