DUCATI ’ S V – OR L – TWINS TAGLIONI ’ S THIRD AGE
New Zealand restored Tiger 110 1959
Cylinder heads and barrels were aluminium , for the first time on Triumph road and production bike engines . The Tiger was given higher compression and race bred camshafts . Sports riders were attracted by the low weight , a result of the aluminium components . From 1951 to 1954 the factory offered an after market ‘ go faster ’ kit for the Tiger 100 . It is said that the Tiger 100 set the standard for every sporting vertical twin to come . So the original Tiger had a run of almost thirty years , and it was a similar time span before a Tiger emerged from the present day factory in a very different guise . Few , if any , model names have survived for over eighty years .
