it shares the look of its famous bigger stablemates, right down to the X headlight and is a robust design, so yep, things just got serious in the 450 Adventure class. Factory options also include handlebar risers, spoked wheels( yep, tubeless cross-spoke version) as well as standard, low or rally seats so you can make your own bike. Weighing in at 178kg ready to ride, it promises to be a lively ride on tarmac, gravel or dirt in any configuration and naturally, being a BMW, there is already a catalogue of touring and adventure kit you can get to go straight onto your new F450GS. Even straight out of the box, it is a superbly well-equipped midsize adventurer, just perfect for exploring the backroads and shortcuts in New Zealand. The four model variants are F450GS Basic, F450GS Exclusive( incl. off-road footpegs, handguards, engine guard, Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro and clear windshield), F450GS Sport( incl. off-road footpegs, handguards, engine guard, Riding Modes Pro,
Shift Assistant Pro, clear windshield and sport suspension) and F450GS Trophy( incl. off-road footpegs, white handguards, Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, tinted Rallye windshield, sport suspension, aluminium engine guard and Easy Ride Clutch). Naturally, while exploring, you can be connected and charge your device via the USB-C port and when you come to a stop, there is DBC there to help if needed. Dynamic Brake Control senses‘ untoward’ throttle openings under hard braking( often referred to as whisky throttle) and the two-stage brake light warns those behind when you are serious about stopping. Everything is controlled via a multi-controller on the left handlebar and the TFT dash makes navigation easy. Speaking of navigation, there is arrow-type navigation for day-to-day stuff and BMW’ s optional full suite for going off-piste. Arrival dates are TBC, so we wait patiently … Are we there yet? No? Whaddabout now, huh?
