the west, with 100km of tarmac then headed north into a valley which was host to the recent Nomad Games. Our guide, Nagim, said,“ Follow me, I know a place we may be able to get lunch”. We took a cross-country route up this valley to a nomad camp where Nagim talked the talk and 45 min later we were served a grilled trout lunch in a hut by a lake. One of the best moments of the tour. More tarmac followed to our last night away in the town of Chyryptky.
FINAL DAY More tarmac and dealing with sketchy driving again today( like an oncoming car in our dual carriageway lane at one point). The last dozen kilometres were a lesson from Nagim‘ catch me if you can’ in how to navigate Bishkek traffic. A bit like the fast and the furious crossed with an enduro terrain test to be honest! After a final dinner in Bishkek, we bid farewell to Max who went off on other adventures in the neighbouring‘ Stan’ countries, while Stretch and myself headed off home to good ol’ NZ. Thanks to Nagim and the Silk Offroad Tours crew who put on an amazing trip and looked after us well.
