After trading in his trusty Honda Hornet for a Yamaha YZF-R3, Chris Baylis is now settling into living the smaller life.
Having spent most of my life riding, selecting the Yamaha R3 wasn’ t necessarily the most obvious choice. But I wasn’ t chasing the latest tech or raw horsepower— I wanted a machine that could squeeze into my very full workshop, deliver solid fuel efficiency for daily runs, offer great reliability, and a price to match, or exceed, my expectations. The R3 ticked those boxes: cheap, compact enough to manoeuvre through tight spaces, light on petrol, and known for its dependability.
