on the gravel around Rotorua and on Forestry challenge section trails in the Kinleith Forest near Tokoroa . With the lining removed and all the vents open the suit kept me reasonably cool . As the waterproof lining stays inside the suit , the vents don ’ t provide direct cooling , rather they help cool the liner . The lower legs will fit over anything up to the size of an adventure boot , but if you like your adventures to include dirt bike / MX / Enduro boots , they ’ re a little narrow for that and won ’ t fit over the plastic shin protection .
THE SKINNY It ’ s a warm suit , certainly warm enough for sub- 10 degree temps without the need to wear anything underneath other than a merino underlayer . The waterproofing is good ; hours in the rain good . The legs are a little short for me - it ’ s better if I leave the bottom of the pant
thermal lining unclipped , otherwise the outer rides up over the top of short boots ( this is fine with longer adventure style boots ). The cuffs are quite small , I found it tricky ( but not impossible ) to get the cuffs of large , gauntlet style gloves underneath the jacket cuffs . Overall , the Eddas jacket and pants will keep you warm and dry in the winter and cool-ish in the summer ( although a suit with a completely removable waterproof liner will keep you cooler still , but won ’ t be as warm the rest of the year ). For the price it does what it should , looks good and makes a good case as your only riding suit .
