HRC Petronas Racing’ s Jeffrey Herlings made his weekend a whole lot tougher with, by his standards, a lacklustre qualifying of ninth place. Not getting the gate choice of preference meant just one thing – pass. The rinse and repeat. Herlings was as much as fifteen seconds in arrears mid-race but a series of classy passes saw him thread his way towards the front. Once he hit the front, he seemed to have worked out his lines better than the rest, utilising some of the lines he used to overtake to post some super fast laps and win the race, bagging a handy haul of points as he tries to haul in the leader. His fifteenth to first dash in the first moto was almost replicated in a tenth to second effort in the second, handing him the overall win. For a man who previously stated he had to crack on and get into the top few early in the season as age was not on his side, he is living up to that promise, for sure.
