KIWI KEV AT IOMTT

Along with Mitch Rees, there is another Kiwi racing at the TT this year. Living in Australia and doing bloody well on modern, classic and historic machinery is Anthony‘ Kev’ Stephens. Like many good things, our‘ Strayan’ neighbours pretty much claim him as their own, like Jack Miller etc but hailing from Invercarrrgill, the accent of this Southern man is not fading. The locals across the ditch nicknamed him Kiwi Kev, so it is Kev he goes by now – easier than educating the Aussies … Anyway, Kev has done two Isle of Man Manx GP events as well as a couple of IOM Southern 100 races, so has spent a couple of years hard out dedicated to the cause. That involves time over there, every cent he has, loads of time driving and riding the roads to get familiar with the 61.7km loop. The challenge appeals and the bug bit, so this year he is having a crack at the IOM TT, as in the main event, taking it up a notch or three. That involves applying and then waiting to see if you get an invite, which he did. Stoked with the invite but with it only coming 100 days prior to the event, the scramble to sell what you can, raid the piggybank and fundraise kicked off in earnest. So did the long days for the self-employed Kiwi. Many Mainlanders will know Kev, or Anthony, he is not fussed what you call him, especially if you are keen to help with the mission. Racing with his # 212 number board, he has a website and still has fifty tickets in the # 212 Supporters Club. Sure, the prizes may be based across the ditch but if you strike it lucky, I am sure there is something that can be worked out. If you want your logo to race around the iconic circuit, hit him up. Kev is piloting an Aprilia 660 in the Sport Twins class, a fiercely contested category with all the big names in the mix. If you want to hear an interview Kev did with the slightly irreverent MotoPG lads, Boris, Tug and Freido, look them up on your preferred
