him fall away to eighth at the finish but the team would be quietly, or not so quietly, happy with that result. And that wasn’ t the end of his weekend. Sixth in the Sprint and seventh in Race Two, again both seeing him fade as the races wore on, showed that he’ s one to watch and once he’ s figured out the arcane magic of tyre management, we might see him making a mark in races more often. Notably, only Bulega, Lecuona, Montella and Bautista outscored him at Balaton Park. No surprise of the weekend? Honda. One point. Whilst not quite performing up to the standard Surra set, Taz Mackenzie had a positive round scoring in every race. Twelfth in the championship one point behind Petrux and one ahead of Vierge isn’ t bad at all.
SEASON MID-POINT Autodrom Most and MotorLand Aragon host the remainder of the May rounds. That will bring us to the mid-point of the season. Can anyone break Bulega’ s stranglehold on the series? Lecuona seems the man most likely to but if the planets align in the way they didn’ t at round four’ s Balaton Park, Sam Lowes and Miguel Oliveira seem to have what it takes to pounce on any mistakes Bulega might make. But it does seem that it’ s going to take a mistake or a mechanical before we see Bulega off the top step of the podium.
