Sam Lowes
A multi-bike incident at turn six on the first lap caused the race to be red-flagged which was a get out of jail free card for Bulega. He didn’ t repeat his earlier mistakes at the restart and a potential race loss turned into another race win. Luck was certainly on his side. Lecuona took three second places despite having to contend with a three-place grid penalty for Race One and the Sprint race, penalised for having impeded another rider in qualifying. He didn’ t agree with the penalty and, yes, it seemed a little harsh. Whilst it’ s obvious that Lecuona has a seat on the best bike on the grid, it’ s a real credit to him as to how quickly he’ s adapted to it. His tendency to get injured has hampered him in the past but this season has demonstrated that he is a genuinely talented rider.
Sam Lowes had a very tough weekend. Seventh on the grid wasn’ t ideal; a jump start, earning him a double long lap penalty in race one, added to the misery. To his credit he fought back strongly to land a ninth-place finish but, on balance, that counts as damage
