HANDLING AND CHASSIS Handling is where this bike really shines. The chassis updates make the CRF450R one of the most nimble but still stable 450s I’ ve ridden. Whether threading through singletrack, railing ruts, or sweeping high-speed turns, the bike responds with a feeling of confidence. It doesn’ t have that heavy front-end feel some big-bores carry. Cornering is effortless, and it always felt like I was in control, even when pushing hard. As for the updated brakes, even under hard braking, the new Nissin two-piston front caliper impresses. It’ s got great modulation and feel, especially important when you’ re riding on varied terrain. Honda also worked on reducing lever play under heat( some 56 % less lever travel when hot), something I didn’ t notice until I realised I wasn’ t noticing it at all, which is exactly how it should be.
MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING Honda’ s done a good job of keeping things easy to maintain. The airbox isn’ t tool-free, but only takes a couple bolts to get in, and the air filter is slim and easy to remove. There’ s a nice big sight glass for checking the oil level, and everything else is laid out well for regular checks and servicing. Also worth mentioning is how much easier it is to remove the rear shock now, just four parts to take off, which cuts the job time in half. If you’ re someone who regularly tweaks suspension or services your own bike, this is a big plus.
THE SKINNY The 2025 CRF450R is a big step forward, not just a refinement but a real evolution. Honda has pushed the envelope with meaningful updates to the frame, suspension, and engine, all guided by HRC development. The CRF450R is a top-shelf 450 that’ s fast, light, and confidence-inspiring straight out of the crate, and then there are the awesome retroinspired looks and graphics.
