Renthal lock-on grips but there is currently not a fitment for the Beta. With the grips done, and a new funnel so I can put gas in the tank and not on my crotch, we hit the track and cut some laps on what turned out to be a really balanced and easy to ride machine. But let’ s start off with the engine and how this iteration of the 450cc combustion engine is more than meets the eye.
SMOOTH TORQUE The Beta’ s engine is probably the tamest 450 engine in the class. It’ s not aggressive, snappy or jerky, instead, the delivery is smooth, predictable and torquey as hell. This engine is an engine that responds to a bit of shortshifting, as opposed to hanging onto a gear and revving out the engine. There’ s a good amount of pull from down low, and then it transitions smoothly into an incredibly torquey midrange where the meat of the power sits. If you are a Barcia-kinda-rider then this bike if definitely not for you. If you like to lug out of corners and roll on tractable power, you’ ve come to the right place.
