All very subjective , as others we ’ d say were more ‘ legendary ’ didn ’ t appear in that list , but , wow , those are nine names you probably knew already . This might be controversial , but I honestly believe we will be adding GSX-8S to that list at some point , sooner rather than later . It has all the criteria . Well priced , lively and responsive to ride , power in spades , great brakes , and the aftermarket is slowly filling up with parts for riders and tinkerers . Put me on record as saying this platform will be one of the greats from Suzuki . Stick that in a time capsule , bury it and let ’ s dig it up in 20 years . If I ’ m wrong , well , you missed out . Our long term test GSX-8S has now ticked over 1000km .
Pause for applause . That means it left my shed for its first service . Interestingly , there ’ s not much on the maintenance schedule for the 1000km service . Oil , filter , and a general checkover is about it . So , now she ’ s serviced , I have a couple of little things to attend to . I ’ ve ridden the bike for 1000km as it came out of the factory , and there are only two things I really want to change at this point . The first is to fit a Scottoiler , because chain maintenance really does suck . I ’ ve learnt to appreciate the benefits of constant chain oiling on my Tenere 700 - and I don ’ t really want to go backwards with the Suzuki . The second is a Quadlock phone mount . Otherwise , let the road trip planning begin !.
